BRIAN ANDREW MENDOZA (BAM) is an American filmmaker whose love for film began while growing up in the Sierra Nevadas making snowboard and skate films on DV tape cameras. BAM has spent the past 20 years taking an unconventional path from spearheading a new media division at HBO in the early 2000’s to working with Magnum photographer Bruce Davidson on a years spanning photo project in Los Angeles.
In 2021, BAM’s directorial feature debut, Sweet Girl, was released on Netflix. It racked up 136 million views in its first 30 days making it the most watched film of summer 21’ on the platform. He is currently directing (and exec. producing) one of Apple’s most anticipated TV series, Chief of War about the unification of the Hawaiian islands in the late 1700’s.
In 2010, he formed a production company, Pride of Gypsies, with Jason Momoa. Together they have created & produced projects in both scripted & unscripted, in both film, TV, and commercials.
In early 2024, Warner Bros. Discovery will release On the Roam, a cinematic 8 part docu-series co-directed by BAM and Momoa. He has directed several national commercial campaign’s including All Hail Mom, Carhartt’s first women’s campaign. BAM is based in Los Angeles with his wife, son, and their dog.
